FAQ
FAQ
What is the difference between the CRB-Clean machines and the Austrian models?
CRB-Clean units provide the same CRB cleaning functionality at a more economical price point, making them an excellent choice for cleaners who want professional results without the cost of a premium machine. While they’re not built quite as heavy-duty as the Austrian models and may not have the same decades-long lifespan, they deliver strong agitation, reliable performance, and all the core functionality needed for residential cleaning and commercial use.
If you’re looking for a budget-friendly option that still gets the job done well, CRB Clean models are a smart, cost-effective solution.
What surfaces and applications can the CRB handle?
- Encapsulation (VLM) carpet cleaning
- Dry compound cleaning
- Pre-scrubbing before hot water extraction
- Pile lifting and grooming
- Deep dry soil removal with Renovator trays
- Certain hard-surface scrubbing (with proper brushes and chemistry)
It’s a true multi-purpose machine for everyday professional work.
What size CRB Clean machine machine do I need?
- CRB Clean 12 (12") – best for tight residential spaces and stairs
- CRB Clean 15 (15") – ideal for residential and small-to-medium commercial jobs
- CRB Clean 20 (20") – best for large, open commercial areas & big residential jobs
What brushes should I use, and when should I switch them?
You’ll receive standard blue brushes, which are excellent for most residential and commercial synthetic carpets. Optional brush types are available if you need softer, stiffer, or specialty brushes for different surfaces.
How do Renovator trays improve my cleaning results?
Renovator trays attach to the front and back of the TM4 to capture sand, debris, hair, and dry soil removed by the brushes.
Benefits include:
- Massive dry soil removal before chemistry is applied
- Cleaner traffic lanes
- Enhanced encapsulation results
- Improved carpet appearance and longevity
You’ll often be shocked by how much material the trays catch.
Is the CRB easy to learn and operate?
Yes, it is known for being:
- Very simple to operate
- Easy to train employees on
- Reliable due to minimal electronics
- Quick to set up, break down, and clean
With the included BONUS eBook, even new cleaners can master the CRB process quickly.
How does it into VLM and encapsulation cleaning?
The CRB is one of the most effective machines for VLM cleaning:
- Dual brush agitation evenly works encap detergent into fibers
- Soil is suspended and removed with post-vacuuming
- Renovator trays remove dry soil before wet cleaning
- Fast-drying, ideal for commercial maintenance
- Perfect for offering “dry in under an hour” services
How does the CRB fit into traditional hot water extraction cleaning?
They are invaluable add-ons for truckmount and portable HWE cleaners.
- The superior agitation makes it the perfect pre-scrubbing tool
- You can also use it for pile lifting and grooming
- Improves appearance, drying time, and overall results
Is there an option for increased cleaning width?
Yes. With the optional tandem bar accessory, two units can be linked together for increased productivity on large-scale projects. (*Please note the CRB Clean 12 does not have this capability)

Confusing — And How to Compare
CRBs sold in the U.S. come from two different manufacturers, but many sellers private-label them under their own names. This guide helps you cut through the confusion.
In the U.S., all CRB machines trace back to one of two supply chains — Austrian-manufactured units distributed by Carpet Cleaner America (CCA), or Chinese-manufactured units distributed by CRB Clean / CRB Cleaning Systems. Everything else you see online is a retailer's private-label name on top of one of these two sources.
| Austrian-Made CCA | Chinese-Made CRB Clean | |
|---|---|---|
| Manufacturer | Austria | China |
| U.S. Distributor | Carpet Cleaner America | CRB Clean / CRB Cleaning Systems |
| Model Numbers | TM3, TM4, TM5, PRO35, PRO45 | TM3, TM4, TM5, Multi-Clean, Clean Storm |
| Private-Label Names | Hydro-Force, Prospector, BrushEncap, BrushMaster, TMF Pounder, CleanScrub, Brush Pro, Brush Pro Hybrid | CRB Clean, CRB Cleaning Systems, Multi-Clean, CleanStorm |
We name our products so the model number acts as an ID tag — it tells you exactly what you're buying before you read a single word of the description.
Because private-label branding is so common, the same Austrian (CCA) machine may appear on multiple sites under completely different names — and at different price points. If two listings are both the Austrian CCA-supplied unit, you're looking at the same machine regardless of what it's called. Price differences come down to the seller and what's included, not the machine itself.
Examples:
- A Hydro-Force, BrushMaster and a Brush Pro are the same unit.
- A TM, BrushEncap and a Prospector are the same unit.
If you see different prices for these, you're comparing sellers — not machines.
